Job Description
Position performs agricultural duties including livestock care, farm labor, equipment/machinery operation, and assists research personnel. Duties also include general animal husbandry activities such as milking and feeding cows. Completes other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the care and welfare of research livestock. Assists in general animal husbandry activities such as milking and feeding cows.
- Farm labor and agricultural duties in support of university research projects and milk production, operates farm equipment/machinery. Cleans and maintains work environment/facilities. Assists researchers.
- Assists with special events such as field days, tour groups, and classes.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Education: NIA
- Experience: One year farm or other agricultural experience
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Knowledge of livestock and agricultural operations.
- Ability to work with large farm animals/livestock.
- Ability to assist in gathering samples and minor medical procedures.
- Ability to perform agricultural/manual labor in inclement climatic conditions.
- Skilled to operate machinery/equipment including tractors, trucks, forage harvesting equipment.
- Ability to work well in a team atmosphere.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: Three years farm or other agricultural experience.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Knowledge of milking and feeding dairy cows.
- Skills to operate and maintain farm equipment.
