Job Summary
The Sayu Lab for Biomechanics & Locomotion at the University of Utah is seeking highly motivated candidates for a part-time Research Analyst position. This position is designed to prepare individuals for a research-focused career in academia or industry. The candidate will work with Dr. Kota Takahashi to conduct collaborative and interdisciplinary projects that bridge biomechanics, physiology, engineering and rehabilitation medicine. The candidate will participate in one of three actively funded research by NIH and DOD:
The selected candidates will have opportunities to lead and/or co-author manuscript publications, and they will be encouraged to develop independent fellowships/grants proposals to advance their careers.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Perform rigorous scientific experiments and work within an interdisciplinary team consisting of biomechanists, physiologists, engineers, clinicians, and statisticians. Write manuscripts for publications in scientific journals, and present research at national meetings Assist in grant proposals Mentor undergraduate and graduate students Lead and organize lab meetings
Qualifications:
Ph.D., in biomechanics, engineering, kinesiology, physiology, or a related discipline. A track record of peer-reviewed publications

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field, or equivalency, plus two years of related experience. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.
- A valid Utah Driver's License may be required in certain departments.
- Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Preferences
Ph.D., in biomechanics, engineering, kinesiology, physiology, or a related discipline. A track record of peer-reviewed publications
Capacity to perform rigorous scientific experiments Proficiency in 3D movement analysis studies and equipment (e.g., motion capture, force platforms, EMG) Proficiency in programming (Matlab, Visual3D) Experience working with clinical population (e.g., amputation, diabetes, older adults) is desired, but not required. Experience in vascular physiology analyses (e.g., doppler ultrasound, NIRS) for Research Theme 1 Experience in muscle-tendon biomechanics and energetics for Research Theme 2 Experience in robotics, mechatronics, or prosthetics for Research Theme 3
