About the Position:
The Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP) works with other units throughout campus to seek external support for faculty research, scholarship, creative activity and institutional projects that support the educational and service mission of the university. ORSP staff assist with proposal development (Office of Research Development), proposal submission, contract negotiation (Office of Grants & Contracts), and post award support (Office of Sponsored Programs), and help to assure that research and sponsored programs are conducted in accordance with the highest ethical and regulatory standards (Office of Research Compliance). We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Research Compliance Specialist (Administrative Analyst/Specialist - Exempt I). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
Under the direction of the Associate Vice President, Research and Sponsored Projects, the Research Compliance Specialist will work in the Compliance office to assess, analyze, support, and coordinate research compliance and export control matters. Will be responsible for independently preparing and delivering documentation required for the office. Job duties will also include delivering training and educational outreach to faculty, students and staff on matters related to research compliance such as export control, responsible and ethical conduct of research, financial conflict of interest and conflicts of commitment with both domestic and foreign entities, and the development of online tools, webinars, and in-person training sessions. Essential Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs plus two years of related experience. Working knowledge of and the ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations. Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program or administrative specialty. Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques. Ability to take initiative and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved. Skilled in research, development, and evaluation of policies and programs. Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Expertise investigating and analyzing problems with broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form. Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience working in an academic setting for compliance-related items such as Conflict of Interests, IRB, IACUC and/or IBC. Ability to research, interpret, and implement regulations, policies, and guidelines related to federal and state conflict of interest laws and regulations. Familiar with National Security Presidential Memorandum 33 (NSPM-33 ) and policies from the National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation regarding transparency about financial support from and affiliations with international institutions.
