Research Assistant, III

Job Summary

The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant, III to support ongoing research projects. This position is ideal for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in research. Performs a variety of administrative tasks in support of the clinical research program or laboratory. Tasks will vary by department and research category. Typically, manage the front desk, organize files, and perform other clerical duties associated with research studies and programs. Recruit participants, verify eligibility, and enroll subjects. Schedule participant visits and maintain records. Transport samples or laboratory equipment. Monitor inventory levels and order supplies. Tasks will vary by department and research category.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions:

1. Collects and compiles data from a variety of sources; may enter data into a PC or computer terminal.
2. Obtains informed consent from participants.
3. Maintains a knowledge of Good Clinical Practices, FDA, HIPAA and IRB regulations.
4. May edit research papers, project reports, proposals and curriculum materials prior to publication or presentation.
5. Prepares format for final disposition of data; maintains an internal library on project information resources and final data collected.
6. May work with research personnel in the design and preparation of research projects and in recording data.

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Research Assistant, III: Requires 3+ years of related experience.


Preferences
  • In pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in a science related field or equivalency of one year of experience in research and analytical techniques; demonstrated statistical and quantitative analysis experience; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.
  • Departments may require IRB CITI Course or IATA DGR training within a specified timeframe.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Basic proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS, R) or willingness to learn.
