Position Description
Performs specialized Post Doctoral work in the planning, conducting and/or supervision of original research. Responsible for participating in a research project associated with PhD studies and the interpretation of the results of publication. Work is performed under supervision of graduate faculty members with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project. May supervise research and student assistants.

Major/Essential Functions
Human iPSC Culture and Differentiation:
  • Maintain and expand human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs)
  • Perform quality control (pluripotency markers, karyotyping, mycoplasma testing)
  • Differentiate iPSCs into relevant neural cell types (e.g., neurons, astrocytes, microglia)
  • Apply genome editing if needed (CRISPR/Cas9 experience preferred)
  • Troubleshoot reprogramming and differentiation protocols
Alzheimers Disease (AD) Mouse Model Handling:
  • Maintain and genotype transgenic AD mouse colonies
  • Perform behavioral assays (learning/memory tests)Conduct tissue collection and processing
  • Perform histology, immunohistochemistry, and biochemical assays
  • Follow IACUC and animal welfare procedures
Experimental Design and Data Analysis:
  • Design and execute experiments independently
  • Analyze and interpret molecular, cellular, and behavioral data
  • Maintain accurate records and reproducible workflows
  • Apply statistical analysis methods
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Present data in lab meetings and conferences
  • Prepare manuscripts and grant materials
  • Train junior researchers or students
  • Collaborate across interdisciplinary teams


Required Qualifications
PhD in area of project specialization. Knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof. Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions and other outcomes. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees and the public. Ability to plan and allocate the workload of employees, providing direct training and supervision as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Postdoctoral or doctoral research experience in neuroscience, stem cell biology, neurodegeneration, or a closely related field.
  2. Demonstrated experience working with human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), including differentiation into neural cell types.
  3. Demonstrated record of scientific productivity, such as peer-reviewed publications or conference presentations.
  4. Experience preparing manuscripts, fellowship applications, or grant proposals.
  5. Knowledge of genome editing technologies (e.g., CRISPR/Cas9) in stem cells.
  6. Experience with CRISPR gene editing and isogenic cell line generation.
  7. Ability to develop and implement new experimental methods or model systems.

$44,500 - $57,900 - $71,200
