Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to join our Immune Profiling Platform at Huntsman Cancer Institute. Our basic and translational research program is dedicated to advancing immunotherapy through comprehensive immune microenvironment characterization. This position will play a key role in implementing and optimizing cutting-edge technologies, including single-cell sequencing, multiparameter flow cytometry, and other immune profiling approaches, to drive innovative research in immuno-oncology, autoimmune disease, and infectious diseases. The ideal candidate will have expertise in immune profiling techniques, strong analytical skills, and a collaborative mindset to work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians and computational biologists. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to translational research aimed at improving immunotherapeutic strategies.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
1. Technology Development & Optimization - Establish, optimize, and validate cutting-edge immune profiling techniques, including single-cell RNA sequencing, multiparameter flow cytometry, and spatial transcriptomics.2. Experimental Design & Execution - Develop and execute immune profiling experiments to analyze immune cell composition, activation states, and functional phenotypes in various disease models.3. Data Analysis & Interpretation - Process, analyze, and interpret high-dimensional data from flow cytometry, single-cell sequencing, and imaging-based assays, using tools such as FlowJo, R, Python, or other bioinformatics platforms.4. Collaboration & Cross-Disciplinary Integration - Work closely with clinicians, computational biologists, immunologists, and bioinformaticians to integrate immune profiling data into broader research initiatives focused on immunotherapy.5. Sample Processing & Quality Control - Handle and process human and animal tissue samples, including cell isolation, staining, and sorting, ensuring high-quality and reproducible results.6. Instrumentation Maintenance & Troubleshooting - Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot immune profiling instruments7. Scientific Writing & Presentation - Prepare reports, manuscripts, and presentations summarizing experimental findings for publications, conferences, and grant applications.8. Grant & Funding Support - Assist in developing grant proposals and research funding applications by providing technical expertise and data supporting immune profiling-based studies.9. Training & Mentorship - Assist in mentoring junior researchers and maintaining lab operations.

Minimum Qualifications
1. PhD, MD, or MD/PhD 2. Hands-on experience with single-cell sequencing, multiparameter flow cytometry, spectral flow, CyTOF, or spatial transcriptomics.3. Strong data analysis skills, including proficiency in FlowJo, R, Python, or other bioinformatics tools.4. Familiarity with immunotherapy approaches and immune microenvironment characterization.5. Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) and genome editing is a plus6. Basic computational skills to analyze and interpret next generation sequencing and multi-dimensional flow cytometry data7. Excellent written and oral communication skills8. Strong organizational skills, including the ability to handle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment required9. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach10. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research and manufacturing environment.11.
